Individual Hunger Diary

Our group has found out many saddening statistics about hunger and who it effects in the United States. About 1 in 6 Americans are suffering due to shortage of food in their lives. Many parents work mutliple jobs to enable their family to have at least one meal a day. Many of the social issues that are going on in our country are intertwined with hunger. An increase in the amount of food stamps recipients and kids recieving meals from school came from the recession in 2006 and the years following. The instability in the pay of jobs and lack of jobs led to an increase in prices of food and an increase in those going without for meals during the day. While many charities are working to make sure that the hungry get atleast one meal a day, we need to work to let our government know the true extent of hunger in the United States. It is necessary that the government spends more money and focus on the hungry and making sure that they also have healthy food to eat, not just the processed cheap food. With help from others, we can make the people of the United States more aware of what is going on and be willing to help make a difference.  With an over abundance of food in our nation, nobody should be forced to go hungry.
